Towards the end of 2021, Cousins completed an exciting project at Moulsecoomb Campus, Brighton University’s biggest campus and student village.
Working on behalf of Bouygues UK, we carried out decoration works to the brand-new high-quality student residencies.
Cousins carried out internal decoration works including installation of individual hand painted stencil signs throughout the Moulsecoomb campus, which comprises of 5 different high-rise towers ranging in height from eight to eighteen floors and consists of over 800 new student bedrooms along with communal areas, fitness facilities, Students’ Union, teaching and learning spaces, and plant rooms.
In total we have installed 1,172 individual signs across the 5 blocks, which include wayfinding signage, core numbering and entrance/area signage. Works were applied using stencils and installed by our experienced team with Dulux Diamond Matt, each block featuring its own colour.
Work commenced in March 2020 at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic; this provided a challenge with work progression due to labour shortages from all subcontractors involved; which inevitably led to programme delays.
The project was due for completion in September 2021 ready for the new term and students arriving, with strong collaboration between our team, the site team from Bouygues UK and all subcontractors, we managed to complete the project on time, with a high-quality finish and Health & Safety managed to an excellent standard.
