Quality


Cousins Group has a commitment to deliver work of the highest quality through its companies Cousins Ltd and Campbell Smith & Co. This commitment underscores all activities and is evidenced through:

Quality Management System certified by BSI to 9001:2015

Third Party Accreditation: by Constructionline, Achilles, Builder Pro and Considerate Constructors.

Manufacturer approval: Dulux, Sika, Crown Paints, Johnstone’s Paints and most other leading brands.

Training: all Operations Management qualified to SMSTS (Site Managers Safety Training Scheme) or SSSTS (Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme), NVQ Level 4 or above.

All operatives hold CSCS cards and most have NVQ level 2 or 3 for their trade.

Apprentices – at any one time between 3 & 6 apprentices are undergoing training with a group company.

Health & Safety


Cousins Group is committed to safeguarding the Health & Safety of all employees and members of the public, and complies with the requirements of all applicable legislation, when operating either as Principal Contractor or as a Specialist Supply Chain Partner.

H&S is managed within a robust H&S Management System by our in-house H&S management team. Cousins holds accreditation with the following SSIP bodies:

Cousins Group has a commitment to take active measures to promote a sustainable approach to all areas of our operations, including Environmental Economic and Social aspects.

Cousins has developed specific policies for each of these aspects as sub-polices of our overarching Sustainability Policy, in order to ensure that each is given due attention in the planning and preparation of our processes and procedures.

Explore the history of Cousins

  • 1975

    Robert Cousins together with his father, Ernest, formed the company as ‘E. C. Cousins & Son ltd., painting, mainly on new housing projects, working from a shed in Ernest’s back garden.

  • 1981

    Won our first major painting project in central London – Westminster Tower, an eleven storey building in Lambeth.

  • 1989

    Started work on The Kingsbury Project at Windsor Castle, carrying the redecoration work following a comprehensive rewiring programme. It grew into a £1 Million project for Cousins ltd.

  • 1992

    The Windsor Castle Fire! We were on site with 19 operatives in the Brunswick Tower. We helped, alongside others, and were commended for our part in saving valuable artifacts from destruction.

  • 1993

    Commenced on major painting projects in Whitehall including Horseguards, The Foreign and commonwealth office, Palace of Westminster & other important government buildings, which continued for 7 years.

  • 1994

    Were re-engaged at Windsor castle to carry out the major part of the decoration works following the fire.

  • 1995

    Founding member of the Dulux Contractor partnership scheme.

  • 1996

    We opened our first London office.

  • 1999

    Campbell Smith & Co was added to the Cousins Group.

  • 2006

    Secured the first 3 year Remedial Works Contractor framework with NHBC.

  • 2012

    Cousins established a separate Building and refurbishment division.

  • 2016

    Cousins Building & Refurbishment celebrate 10 years as an NHBC Remedial Works Contractor.

  • 2019

    We opened our Chichester office.
